Community News

June 2026

New Website

For safety and security, a new website was selected to segment public pages from member only pages. Trip details will be behind member only pages with general information offered to the public. Prepare, however, for a dedicated platform for The Field Trip Society in the coming months. This will offer the ultimate ease and convenience.

Communication

Currently, GroupMe, text alerts, and in-app announcements are being used for communication. This will be consolidated for simplicity and so information is in one place. More updates to follow.

Newsletter: Expect your first newsletter in June. Each month thereafter, they will be sent between the 1st and the 5th.

Trips

New Trips Added To The Calendar:

  • The Loop Playground (part of Community Connect)

  • Longstreet Farm

  • Burlington Prison

  • Princeton Art Museum

  • Thomas Edison Museum

Many of these trips are free or low cost. It was important to add more free trip options based on parent feedback, so check them out.

Community Connect

What is Community Connect?

Free, recurring, community gatherings for homeschool families. Whether it’s a playground, game night, hike, social, or community project, it’s a simple relaxed opportunity to connect and build friendships with other homeschool families.

It a space to build community consistently and enjoy time together. Community Connect will start regionally on a bi-weekly schedule and expand. All ages are welcome!

How is Community Connect different from Field Trips?

Field Trips: educational, structured, organized experiences, destination-focused with connection, can be age-specific

Community Connect: free, recurring, relationship-focused, appropriate for all ages

Our first Community Connect: The Loop Playground in Mountainside June 30th.

Founding Families

You are doing more than joining a community. You are shaping it. You are it!

Thank you to all of our founding members, which is you! I launched The Field Trip Society late January with our first trip held on February 12, and our first family to attend was Jessica Velazquez. ❤️

We now have over 40 families, close to 200 participants, and have taken 11 trips! That is only possible because of you and the mission that you believe in. I wanted a simple, meaningful, consistent community for my family and many of you do, too.

Non-member Pricing is now available for your friends who may want to take a solo trip or try before they choose a membership. As Founding Members, you’ve locked in our lowest membership rate while helping shape the future of The Field Trip Society. Come fall, new families will join at our regular membership rates.

Forms

Forms can feel repetitive as you enter the same information for each trip. A simpler option will be available soon.

DOB fields on the form help us maintain accurate information related to ages when we plan trips. If you’ve already imputed that information once, you do not need to re-enter it on a subsequent form.

Soon standard information will be part of your family profile on our dedicated platform eliminating the need to enter it on forms. We look forward to sharing that with you when it’s ready.

  • Text Alerts: Quick or urgent updates

  • Student Showcase: Highlight your family wins and accomplishments in-app for all to celebrate!

  • One trip check out item listed on registration forms, but with variants, for greater clarity and simplicity

  • Physical Passport: You have the option to use the in-app digital passport or the physical passport to track student adventures.

  • Notifications: In-app notifications added to keep you in the loop
